Scholarship Programs

International Scholarships

For international students, choosing the right school is a big decision, but figuring out how to pay for it may be an even bigger one. Here at Berkshire University we want to make sure you are as prepared as possible to start your educational journey, and have established several scholarships to assist international students in financing their education.  To apply for these scholarships, they must meet the admissions requirements for the program of choice and the criteria outlined below.

In addition to these Berkshire University scholarships, there are thousands of other scholarships and awards available for everything from student competitions, awards based on association affiliations, fields of study and many more. We encourage you to research those as well.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

Are you a high school or college graduate? A high achiever? Berkshire University awards a select number of Merit Scholarships to graduates enrolling in selected programs each year. The scholarships range in value from $3,000 to $4,000 per academic year.

Eligibility & Award Criteria:

  • Prospective or enrolled international students in all programs are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must complete their admissions file to be considered for this merit-based tuition scholarship.
  • A completed application must be submitted by a prescribed deadline.
  • Candidates must show excellence in their high school career, or have a high school or college grade point average equivalency of 2.75 or better.

COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP

Actively participating and contributing to our communities is important to Berkshire University. If you are helping others in your community, you may be eligible to receive our Community Service Scholarship.

Eligibility & Award Criteria:

  • Submit a letter of recommendation from the organization verifying community service (letter must be on the organization’s letterhead).
  • Prospective or enrolled international students in all programs are eligible to apply.

Amount: $500

HEAD START – EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD

You have decided to further your career in your field of work by going back to school. You already have some experience, and we would like to reward you for taking the initiative to gain that experience. Our Head Start scholarship rewards you for the knowledge and skills you have already achieved in your field of work.

Eligibility & Award Criteria:

  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a previous or current employer verifying work and achievements in the field in which you wish to study (letter must be on the employer’s letterhead). The work experience must be related to the intended field of study.
  • Prospective or enrolled international students in all programs are eligible to apply.

Amount: Up to $2000

EARLY ACTION SCHOLARSHIP

“The early bird catches the worm” – or at least deserves an award for advance planning. We like how you think – early action takers deserve their own scholarship. Submit your admissions documents and complete your application at least 3 months before you plan to start school, and you may earn an award for doing so.

Eligibility & Award Criteria:

  • It is simple. Complete your admissions file at least 3 months before your start date.
  • Prospective or enrolled international students in all programs are eligible to apply.

Amount: $500

FOUNDER’S SCHOLARSHIP

Over 50 years ago, Mr. Alfred Dreyfus immigrated to the USA and founded BSU. His goal was to provide educational opportunities to students who wished to advance in their careers, regardless of their financial, physical or social standing. The Founder’s Scholarship was created in honor of Mr. Dreyfus, and is available to those deserving students who require additional financial support.

 Eligibility & Award Criteria:

  • Prospective or enrolled international students in all programs are eligible to apply.
  • The applicant must submit evidence of their financial status, disability, or social status, and submit a one page essay on why you would be a good candidate to receive the Founder’s Scholarship.
  • Due to the high value of the Founders Scholarship, students who apply and qualify are excluded from receiving most of the scholarships available from BSU. The only scholarships that may stack with the Founder’s Scholarship are the Refer a Fried Scholarship, and the International Student Diversity Scholarship.
  • The Founders Scholarships is highly selective and therefore limited scholarships will be available each academic year.

Amount: $5,000 per academic year

REFER A FRIEND SCHOLARSHIP

School can be more rewarding with friends! Especially when you are away from home in a foreign country. Share the experience of studying at BSU with this scholarship designed just for your friends and family. For every student you refer, you may earn $1000 in tuition credit.

Eligibility & Award Criteria:

  • Make sure your friend includes your name on their application form so you can receive credit.
  • Scholarship is applied after the referred students pay for their first three terms.

Amount: $1000 (for referring a bachelor’s or master’s student).

ONLINE MASTERS STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP

Deciding to pursue your MBA is a big decision and should not be a financial burden. BSU would like to help you lessen that burden with the Online MBA scholarship. The reward is big - up to 25% off your tuition for the duration of your program!

Eligibility & Award Criteria:

  • Available to all students who are accepted in to the Online Masters programs.
  • Amounts are awarded based on country of citizenship and residence.

Scholarship Amount: Receive a reduced tuition of up to 25% for program duration.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP

We offer a scholarship to increase international student diversity in the classroom. Check below to see if your country is in the list!

Eligibility and Criteria:

  • Prospective or enrolled international students in all programs are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must complete their admissions file to be considered for this merit-based tuition scholarship.
  • A completed application must be submitted by a prescribed deadline.
  • For the first 10 F-1 visa holding students to join BSU, from the following countries: China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, S. Korea, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Saudi Arabia (Country list subject to change. Check with the office of International Admissions for availability).
  • The stackable International Student Diversity Scholarship is awarded once per program for students.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000

SCHOLARSHIP POLICIES:

  1. Students may be awarded up to two types of scholarship concurrently, unless otherwise specified or authorized by BSU.
  2. These scholarships are only available to international students.
  3. The Community Service; Early Action scholarships are applied as tuition credit to the student’s first academic term of study.
  4. The Refer a Friend Scholarship is applied after the referred student completes one academic term of study.
  5. The Merit, Head Start, and Founder’s Scholarships are applied as tuition credit in installments each academic term of study, beginning in the student’s second (2nd) academic semester of study.
  6. Online Master’s Studies Scholarship is applied as tuition credit each term, beginning in the student’s first academic term of study and through the duration of the program.
  7. The International Student Diversity Scholarship is applied as tuition credit to the student’s second academic semester of study.
  8. Tuition credit exceeding the balance due by the student in a term will carry over to the next term.

*Note: each term is 5 weeks. A Bachelor’s degree may be completed in 25 terms. A Masters’ degree in 15 terms.
